Self Defence Sprays - Criminal Identifier Sprays - Are They Legal?Dyejet - Dyejet the offenderDyejet is a small atomiser type canister, each containing a unique DNA registered to the holder. When sprayed upon a person it marks the attacker with a blue dye and the unique DNA that can be traced back to the owner. It has no toxic chemicals. When sprayed upon an individual it will leave a blue stain on clothing and skin. Dyejetthe offender's Managing Director, Peter Pitt chose the colour blue because in the dim and distant past, criminals would be sprayed with woad - a blue dye marking them as criminals. It is suggested by Peter Pitt that the saying we know as 'Woe Betide You' - is incorrect, it was actually "Woad Be Dyed You" ...(allegedly!). I wonder if by association, a criminal defence lawyer would suggest that no person is guilty until proved in a Court of Law and this blue dye might label an innocent person as a criminal. If a person
sprays an inividual who is innocent, could charges me brought upon the
sprayer for assault or some sort of damage? If we look at the purpose of Dyejet; a peson about to be attacked sprays Dyejet on the attacker. There are two elements here, a unique synthetic DNA and a blue dye. The DNA is registered to the owner, the idea being that forensic tests will connect the attacker with the victim. There is certainly plenty of areas where a defence solicitor might argue that the spray could have been activated in spite as opposed to defence.
